EXPLORE OUR MUSEUMS

The New Castle Historical Society operates three historic museums to share the history of our community -

the c. 1690 Dutch House, the 1738 Amstel House, and the 1892 Old Library Museum.

All three are open to the public for tours, programs and exhibitions throughout the year.

The Dutch House Museum

Learn about life in this 17th century Dutch colony in one of New Castle's oldest remaining houses. Furnished with Dutch colonial antiques, the Dutch House offers a unique experience for visitors.

The Amstel House museum

Discover New Castle's rebellious side in the Amstel House, the home of Governor Nicholas Van Dyke during the Revolutionary War. With family and period artifacts throughout, you'll make a personal connection with America's past.

The Old Library Museum

Enjoy changing exhibitions on various topics over four centuries of New Castle's history.  Our 2023 exhibit explores New Castle's European beginnings with Fort Casimir.

ENJOY OUR PROGRAMS & EVENTS

With a variety of educational programs and special events offered throughout the year,

you'll find plenty of opportunities with us to indulge your inner historian!
